SL500 in red - opinions?

Yes I do not like it either, the 2007 cars have a darker red now, but still not my choice, I like the champaign leather,but like on Grahams car it would not do for me

Why not turn it around the other way, the more you have the more you learn about how things work, and I could not live without them.

plus you have the joy of every time you start the car you get a new fault code come up, and I would miss that feature. :confused:

Think all in all while the above options or a combination of them would be nice it depends what you want from the car. If the price is right and your happy with the standard options then thats all that matters.

Funny as 23K of option if they were all fitted would probably fetch a few thousand now.

Red is quite nice with a lightish interior I like it.

Malcolm if your car has all these options plus the nice valve caps it will make someone a great buy when or if you sell it, but then there are some more options SL55, SL600 or an SL65 ooh and designio paint / interior

That is a good price for the car i think, but i have to question the colour!!!!!

Now it was a Almandine red with cream interior that made me buy a SL, i saw this on a billboard add back in the early 90's and i think it suited the 129's.
But it does not look right on the 230 for some reason, i feel that the right colour can make or break the car and unfortunately it breaks it on the 230 in my opinion, but as said before one mans poison etc.....

still think that its a good price, but that may be because of the colour????

:devil: :D But at least it's a blooming colour! Two days ago a helicopter flew over the Chelsea Football Club training ground. Out of the 40 cars in the car park 30 were a shade of black, 4 were silver and the other 8 were assorted. Okay fair cop. it was 6.

School children sometimes complain that they hate school uniform because they all look the same. Given the option they will then turn up, ALL dressed in EXACTLY the same style and colour clothing?

I admire people that are individuals and choose a colour they like. If black was the perfect colour for a car, then why has it only recently become 'the perfect colour'? Last week it was silver, this week it's black, what colour will be popular next week?

I agree with you there john, but to be honest almandine (type colour) is a dated colour that really only ever suited the W124...

i cant talk though, my cars yellow and proud...

Daft as it may sound, the price I paid was the same as a car without them, and there were a few around then with all of the options.
It would seem that many early cars had all of the options as there was a waiting list for 6 months and many did not know what they all did, it is near impossible to find a late one with much in the way of extras at all now days

What are the best options, well for me in order
Parking sensors.
Distronic
Comfort seats
Keyless go
Valve caps

For linguatronic its just as easy to push the button direct as it is to lift the lever, great if you use the phone, and that was an option that I forgot to list.

The panoramic roof did not come until 12-02 and the 7 speed box came late 03, not many had it until it was standard in 04.
Prices are around £6-7k down on this time last year, and mine has still only covered 21k miles in its 5½ year life
