SL55 Performance Pack

Hi. New member here who is trying to find a nice Sl55 ideally with the F1 performance pack. Is there any "definitive" way of knowing if a car genuinely is one. Some that are advertised as F1 are obviously not because they have not got the right wheels or front apron. However other cars do have the wheels and apron but are not!

Is it possible to tell it from the VIN?

Currently looking at one with the following VIN WDB230474ZF053164

Grateful for any help.

Measure the diameter of the discs, check the sticker for the speed limiter/tyre pressures under the fuel cap (300 km/h).

Feel if the LSD is present on the test drive.

If they have all the above, that's as good as a check as any.

That VIN number isnt quite right. Replace the Z with a 2 and this is what the datacard shows;

Ie absolutely nothing to indicate F1 pace car spec.
Not sure what N62 - N91 are though.

the pace cars had a bigger oil cooler aswell!

Hi eventually managed to find and buy one. There are a lot of supposed "F1" spec cars out there but a lot less genuine ones. Good luck with your sale.

If i remember rightly the cars with the "F1 style" performance pack should have code 030 on the data car as this is the code that is used when it flags up the two piece brakes that were fitted with the performance pack on epc.

Please see your datacard attached.



380mm brake disc would require 19" wheels. The datacard states 18" wheels supplied standard. "F1" styling or features are not mentioned either.

From the picture you linked to on your other post it looks like a "F1" car. But without the 030 option I don't think it will have left the factory initially as one.

Have a look in the fuel cap and see if it has a 300kmh rating for the tyres. Not definitive but I have not seen a genuine F1 without that yet.
