I am just about to start on a project for installing a silver arrow interior into a sl60 amg.
Do you think this will look good:cool:. Also will the speedo work on the sl60 as its 1997 and the silver arrow is a 2002.

i am gonner have this as a fun keeper car as the r129 is one of my favourite looking cars of all time.

I have the whole interior for the silver arrow apart from dashboard and the dash on the sl60 is grey (interior is all grey).

Hmm ... the SL60 is a rare car, so I would personally be leaving it alone (unless it needs interior work doing anyway). As an aside I've never been keen on the Silver Arrows trim anyway!

But good luck with the project if you go ahead.

no, ive got another one.
Silver it is. With grey leather. Very conservative interior really. Looks very old man ish.
I must admit the leather is proper nice on the silver arrow. Its proper soft like my s600 and there is a nice constrast of chrome and black with the silver arrow interior whereas the normal one is a very bland grey.

I thought it was white and black but its like a dirty white grey is that the colour its supposed to be?

The reason going for the interior swap was its argueable the rarest interior with one of the rarest r129 types and i thought they would suit it well together as its both factory stuff not some go faster chinese aftermarket chrome trims.

To be honest I dont think the Gray upper dash and Grey carpets wont look quite right with the silver arrow seats\door cards. It might look a little mixed up. Ive seen various cars that have done a similar thing it IMO it looks wrong.

Take a look at the car below:
2002 02 MERCEDES-BENZ E320 CDI ESTATE 7 SEATER SILVER | eBay

I mean the complete interior.
All carpets dashboard steering wheel all trim everything the entire interior is what i have there will not be one bit of grey.

Here are some photos. The interior is the only thing that need refreshing so im going for the swap over.
Should be interesting and might throw up some issues but here goes.
ill post photos as its done.

Well done - that was the ebay one in North London if I recall correctly?

Yeah, interior is tatty, just had it inspected by merc specialist and only a few small minor jobs need doing on it.
Proper nice motor. Bodywork is immac, Just been in it driving home from chester with the wife in the s600 pretty much ruled the A55.
Its rapid. LOL.

Yeah and the R129 im very impressed by the build quality. Everything feels solid like a tank.
Also it has 19 inch wheels which i though would make the ride terrible but its really comfortable. It doesnt crash at all and handles like a dream.
Didnt realise the bonnet on a r129 was so big. There is loads of room inside there.

I like the silver arrow interior a lot (but thats because I have one), I would be tempted to keep the SL60 as it is due to it being so rare. The speedo may be an issue as the SL60 is a M119 engine and the SL500 SA is a M113.

Yeah but the interior is not rare, its totally bog standard. Same as sl320 by the looks of it. It doesnt even have a AMG on the speedo. I dont think id be harming the appeal of the motor, but then again each to there own.

Its your car and its your choice, if you plan to keep it for a long time anyone else's opinion doesnt really matter. And yes the interior is more Grey than white. My Silver arrow sills are damaged and Im having some custom ones manufactured, could run an extra set if its something you'd want to do?

Looks like a nice motor, and if you spend some money on the interior it might be a good investment!

Hopefully fingers cross back on saturday having work done and hard bits of interior fitted by md mercedes in ellesemere port. Doing a great job im glad ive found them. Its a new specialist but it wont be long before more people go to him cause he know his stuff and is professional. Will post pics as soon as its ready is good res. Will wash both the sl60 amg and s600 and do a family shot.

Might even but the Luton Sprinter in for a bit of comedy, like the uncle everyone has but no one talks about.
