Sl663 and warranty

Hello,

Coming from BMW cars. I’m now thinking of buying the SL63 2017 Facelifted model. It has done 36k miles and it’s been serviced recently by a Mercedes dealer.

The car isn’t from a main dealer but from a private dealer. I’m a little concerned as this would be the first car in 11 years that I haven't bought from a dealer, so no approved warranty.

I have gone online for a warranty and MotorEasy has come back with a quote of £1400 for 18 months. This will be their top-of-range Plan A warranty. They say this will cover everything, including wear and tear. Has anyone had any positive experience with aftermarket warranty?

Also, this is the car am interested in buying.

Hi and welcome, I'll be honest here I bought my E63 a month or so ago. Initially I wanted one through a main dealer due to the 2 year AMG warranty. The issue was I was looking at a W212 so options and availability is limited. I managed to locate one through Jardine Jaguar and it came with a 2 year warranty though Jardine and they confirmed it could go to Mercedes so I bit the bullet and went for it. Fortunately I've had a claim already £2300 worth of work and they have approved all bit the corrosion on the lower control arms as they are not faulty/broken. It's £500 to replace so I'll cover that myslef. My worry would be if this was a 3rd party warranty I'd have been left with the full bill.

My adivice, look at the price difference of the value of the car and the warranty. Then look at buying through Mercedes direct. If the price is similar or even if it's slightly higher I'd opt to buy direct for peace of mind.

Best of luck with it

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, Mercedes currently don't have any in the colour I want. I'll keep looking to see what comes up.

I'd hold out, only reason I didn't is I specifically wanted a W212 Wagon with distronic and the multi contour dynamic seats, while I was looking one turned up in the dealer network yet it was in silver and I missed out on it.

I'd hope that being that you're looking for a newer car and I'd assume more choice would be out there being the SL I think you'll be ok. Try calling a couple of the franchised main dealers and register your interest in them, you never know you may get a call quicker then you think.
