Nice to see the SLC badge again . My dad had a 450 SLC back in the day.

I am really pleased to see that the SLC's design is clean and uncluttered with too many 'features'

Well, I didn't barf so it passes the first test..

Cheers,

Gaz

So is the New slc a fixed roof like the old ones from the 70's?

Doesn't look long enough to have rear seats ; the C107 was much longer than the R107 .

Mods please edit PEAKS to read PEEKS in my OP.
Damn predictive text.
Thanks.

There's two reasons why I don't like it:

1. My private plate just devalued
2. They are doing a non AMG, AMG version without a V8

Another day, another model added to the most incongruous illogical range of any marque!

Will it have fake exhaust outlets like the rest of the MB range now? Silly, but this really ticks me off. My R172 has proper pipes with chrome outlets. I saw a GLE coupe today and guess what - fake plastic trims attached to the bumper. Awful for a car of this price range IMO. BMW and Audi still have real pipes.....

It's the facelift of the R172...

Then why don't they just call it what it is instead of naming it after a completely different model ?

And when they do decide to bring out a coupe based on the SL , what are they going to name it ....

It's MB's new naming policy. As the SLK platform is based on the C class, it's now to be called SLC like the ML is now the GLE (E based) and GLA (A class based) etc.

Don't see the point myself, bu that's how it is.

I just glaze over now as it's too confusing, I really can't be bothered trying to work out what is what and if I was in the market for a new car I would just go elsewhere!

The only changes really are

SLK to SLC
ML to GLE
GL to GLS
GLK to GLC

I think that's it. All the others (A, B, C, E, CLS, S, SL etc) stay the same.

Seems daft - in established parlance GL and GLS are trim levels : Grande Lux and Grande Lux Super , as used by many makers for years , and SLC stood for Sport Light Coupe to designate the coupe based on the SL platform , with its replacement the SEC being a Super Einspritzmotor Coupe to show that it was a coupe based on the SWB W126 platform .

Unfortunately , the adolescents now naming these cars don't even bother to look up names already used or their meanings .
