Previously had a CL600 a couple of years ago and decided I wanted a bit of a toy to play with again .
Its white with black alloys .
I will get some photos up later after I got my daughter to do a load of pics for me yesterday.
Have to say Im mighty pleased with it ...:bannana:

What a stonking motor. Looks amazing in the pictures.

Enjoy.

Ant.

Thanks Ant.
Really chuffed with it .
Had a look at a few before getting this one.
Even fuel economy is quite pleasing as well at 20+ at the moment.
Will have to work on getting that down though..!

st13phil has one also in white. You'll have to compare notes.

Hell of car. Hope we get a dry winter for you for some top down driving.

Keep us posted and give us a little report.

Ant.

Lovely.

These have cylinder deactivation don't they?

Hi Grovsie31,
yep they do.
When cruising it will drop to eco4 mode which is running on 4 cylinders only.
It also has eco8 which also reduces fuel consumption on 8 cylinders somehow , but not sure on the workings of that to be honest.
All is seamless and when you need to hit the power it switches back to all cylinder mode instantly.
I don't think it does eco mode in Sport mode though.

Lovely looking car mine is white but a CDI. Just got back from France I got a max consumption of 55 mpg and a total over 2000+ miles it was 50 mpg .
Could not fault the car and I'm sure your the same , great choice.

Hi stagwcb,
I did test a new SLC diesel and to be honest I was mighty impressed with the engine, which I think is the same as yours and did seriously consider getting it.
The only thing was I don't do a great deal of mileage and decided there would not be much in it savings wise, so hence the SLK55.

Everywhere I go now all I can see is SLK,s....

Hi Welcome to the forum.
ECO8 is stop/start mode while the engine is warming up. So at start up, it is on 8 cylinders until the engine warms up then it goes to 4 cylinders if in C mode.

Coming from a CL600, how does it compare in terms of luxury and comfort? I used to have a 1997 CL420 which was a very luxurious cruise mobile with double glazing and soft closure doors (so similar to the CL600). I find the SLK55 just as refined except over bumps where the CL420 feels like it hovers over them.

Ah right ,thanks for the info on eco8 mode ,now I understand.

As for comparison to CL600 ,its not quite the same level of luxury to be fair but then again its less than half the price I guess.
Ride in the CL600 was fairly firm if im honest as it was riding on 20 inch after market alloys that had been put on by previous owner with minimum tyre wall depth.

The CL600 did waft along nicely though whereas the SLK55 wants you to put your foot down. My excuse anyway, blame it on the car..!:thumb:

I would say totally different beasts although they both got/ get admiring glances from both young and old, male or female. (im pretty sure its not me they are admiring anyway).

Hi All got my Slk55 new in April this year the very last one to be registered in Great Britain always wanted one and very leased with my choice!
Just like a big go cart with a 5.5 litre engine and fuel economy not too bad but tyre wear doesn't last too long with all that power, but still great fun.
A couple of photos to follow. One prior to picking up at the dealer and the other with the roof down at Loch Lomond.

Hi, when in April was it registered, can it beat mine at 29th April? Was told mine could be the last one. How you finding it, I absolutely love mine.

Hi, my car was registered at Mercedes Benz Glasgow on the 25th of April so we are definitely the last owners of the of the magnificent V8 5.5 litre engined SLKS to be registered new ! As I now have 7k on mine every mile has put a huge grin on my face and as I have said before the fuel economy is not the worst. Probably have about
3 - 4 millimetres of tread left on the rear tyres so will probably change the rear tyres for winter coming in. Car is an awesome drive with the great V8 burble, you don't need to listen to the radio or sounds in your car as the exhaust note is epic and you don't want to listen to anything else other than that! Only glitch I can say is sometimes the ESP- Anti skid can cut the power a little too much if you re driving hard on an uneven or poor road surface under full acceleration but on a smooth road surface this thing is a beast and accelerates very quickly. Had the 500SL and an SLK250 Diesel before this car, but this is by far the the most fun you can have as it really is a Go Kart, with a huge engine and I am so pleased to own one!

Very nice SLK's. I still prefer the shape of the R171, but the inside of the R172, obviously.

Looking very nice, and so glad your enjoying the powerrrrrrrrrrrrr

Lovely car
