Both airbags have gone off in the SLK I have bought.

What tool do I need to remove the steering wheel airbag? Is it a star drive, pozi, etc.

Also do I need a new dash for the car if the dash airbag has gone off? or is there a way to put it all back together?

Any help appreciated, cheers Simon.:wallbash:

You bought it like that or have they gone off whilst in your ownership?

Bought it like that, young lady slid it in the snow into a transit and wanted to get rid, so in for a penny. W plate, 50k miles, needed airbags and bonnet £1750, thought it was quite cheap?

It was , it won't be so cheap once you have replaced the airbags :D

New dash time i reckon as it will have torn the panel that the bag lives behind as it was deployed.

Surely a its not even possible outside MB themselves to get the airbag system working again? reset all the sensors etc

Torx screwdriver from behind for the steering wheel, 10mm for the passengers bag.

You do need a new dash (I might have one as it happens), the steering wheel airbags are shared with a number of models, so pretty plentiful.

You could just put some gaffer tape over the holes. :)

You could inflate them with a modified party popper . :D

It was cheap due to the work needed to get it back on the road in a good condition but I wish you well with it, and you even got an offer of another dash a few posts above so thing are looking up!

You may need seatbelts too.

You WILL need a new air bag control unit and it to be coded.

Hi Nick
just wondered what you might want for the dash top if you still have it, cheers.:D

Blow up dolls as airbags?????????? Ive seen them in Australia as life rafts to avoid the floods, but as airbags is a thought. Front or rear loaded though?

you could have a F and R switch on the dash.
Passengers choice - front or rear loader in the event of collision sir?

You could always try some Bulgarian airbags
