My 99 SLK 230K auto has developed an occasional cutting out problem. First time was last night. Reversing into a parking bay and it died (on hot engine after 10 mile run). Span over on the starter very healthily but no sign of firing. Tried it quite a few times then left it for ten mins. Came back and started immediately. Did two 30 mile journeys last night and another two 20 milers today with a number of stops and starts in between with no probs. No warning lights, no misfires - perfect. Then at about 15mph it died again. Same thing: Span on starter but would not catch. 15 mins later tried again and perfect.
Any ideas where to start would be welcome. I hate intermittent faults. car has been highly reliable up to now in the five years I've had it. Only work needed has been the usual oiling MAF issues two years back with inlet manifold off etc and a new Bosch MAF fitted a couple of months back.
Thanks
Dave
