Hi All,

Have a colleague who is having some problems feeding her unit the navigation disks (Europe 1 or Europe 2)

Any clues as to why the unit won't draw in a disk?

Ta!

Soon as you mentioned "her" I thought - has she ejected her music CD's first :p

On a less childish note - does it accept CD's and just reject the navigation discs??

What is the car/comand type?

Moonloops, the car has a CD changer in the glovebox... if that makes a difference I am not sure ;)

Mark, the car is a 2005/2006 model with the slot above the display - is there an easy way to determine which system is fitted?

Okay, its either audi50 or comand APS then.

If its colour screen its comand. I suspect though its audio50 if it takes more than one European disk.

Does it accept any disks at all? ie music disks?

May sound stupid but has she checked there isnt a disk already in it?

Keen info as usual Mark!

I shall ask the lady whether the screen is colour and whether she has attempted to eject the drives content first..

The second question could result in bruises, but it needs to be asked

I think the drive refuses to do anything but I shall clarify.

Mark,

The system is indeed an APS 50 with two CD's.

The system does accept the disc (say 1, contrary to previous reports) but... it spins the disk for a minute or two and reports disc defective before eventually allowing removal of the disc.

Now, I looked at the disc and there are a few marks on the surface but not enough (IMO) to render the disc a coaster.

Is it worth cleaning the reader lens or is it clear the problem is more deeply seated?

Okay, assuming it doesnt play music CD's and the Navigation disks are genuine ones, then its a cleaning disk as the first approach.

Come back to me if this doesnt fix it. I have another solution but its more involved. 90% of these sorts of problems are down to the lens needing a clean.
