Seen a nice spec SLK for sale year 2014 14000 miles Full history but 5 owners !!
Would that make you wary?
Cheers

What's the reg? Check the MOT database for more info.
Do you have any insight into the pattern of ownership at all

Eg Demonstrator (1) that got sold to a Finance company (2) who sold it to the user (3) who then sold it in 2017 to someone (4) who sold it to (5) in 2021 ????

MOT history tells you NOTHING! I never understand why people think it does. Service history, bills and actually going over the car with a fine tooth comb will though. Lots of small sporty cars, pure sports cars and high performance saloons quite often get lots of owners in a relatively short time. People lust after them....then, unless they have other cars, reality bites and they realise they need a bigger, more practical or cheaper to run car...and move the other car on.
Loads of AMG on AT with a high owners count!!!

No yet trying to get further info thanks

Or ex demo, then
Dad buys car as a pressie for his wife (who does mobile hairdressing )
She then hands car down to her son who is also a hairdresser by trade
He sells it to another hairdresser in the salon
I forget where I’m up to numbers wise but you get the picture
The hairdresser job is for example only and in no way suggest that the car is in anyway connected to this trade .

You'll find plenty cars MOT's with recorded high mileage over the years when suddenly the mileage halves on the next MOT. How can you say that tells you nothing?

What engine?

The 4-Cyl petrol M271 can suffer from timing gear failure, so need to check service history to see if the camshaft sprocket wheels were inspected and replaced if needed.

The Diesel engines are OK up to 2014-2015, when the EU6 was introduced with the troublesome AdBlue system.

6-Cyl petrol, or EU5 Diesels are a safer bet.

Obviously, EU5 Diesels won't be ULEZ compliant (if that's relevant to you)

I bought one that was 10 years old and 5 owners with a genuine 24 k miles , I sold it 2 years and 4 k miles later without any problems

Any 2 seat convertible can be a car that people get, do, and have then, done ....

Might not get the use, the unnecessary second (or third) car cost may grate if it's not getting used or they may just not have had the weather to enjoy it.

So if it's been maintained and the MOT / Car Vertical is decent, it wouldn't be an issue imho

I have a 2016 SLK and they are good, but they are low down to access.....

2014 - so R172, a large proportion of which are SLK250Cdi (and black too!!)......which to me is an oxymoron, who buys a drop top to listen to a diesel engine?? Mine's a 3L V6 petrol, sounds lovely, especially when the right foot gets heavy, goes well too!

The 350 is a nice car. Wind it up and it howls 😎

They’re generally nicely spec’d too.

Nice looking car. We had a R171 and loved it. Make sure you check VED - avoid nasty surprises!
