Yesterday fine, today haveing opened the boot it will not shut.
It appears to me that a 'bit' is supposed to come out of that part in the boot lid and go through a hole in the other part. If I am correct then it is stuck in the lock. Apart from 'take it to a garage' - any ideas as to how a non mechanic (understatment) could fix it.

Many thanks

It could be out of alignment. There is a trick you can try to open the catch up so it will shut again and then get it fixed at the garage but it's not something I can explain easily in words - try and use your key to open the catch it should then shut. There is an override key lock/unlock located on the underside of the boot handle(if its a face lift version) if not simply use the very visible lock ;)
