A little something for you guys....

SLK55 AMG - 360hp - 510nm Torque
CaymanS 325hp - 370nm Torque

I got my other half to drive the CS and we went for quick straight line drag race on the 1M straight track of course.

Which one do you think came out on top?

Cheers,

Jo.

The porsche might have pulled ahead initially due to better traction and gearbox but I'd imagine once in third the SLK would have begun pulling away?

The SLK55 is about 320kgs heavier so think it would be quite close race. Would hope the torque of the slk would give it an advantage in the end.

I've driven both but not on the same day so difficult to be sure. The SLK felt quicker (and sounded better) if my memory serves me right. But they're such different cars it would be hard to call.

1540kg SLK55 R171
1370kg CS

Sheeet that's alot. Not so sure now...

BTW, did you buy an SLS? :)

SLS was customers car. Have both SLS and SLR in our storage facility. Wish I could afford one but will have to make do with SL55.

I'd hope SLK, but I'll say Porsche as there is a sizeable weight difference.

OK the results have surprised me a little if I am honest.

We did a couple of races one was from standing start and one from rolling start 40mph

Standing start the SLK55 took the lead 2 cars length till about 80mph then the CaymanS started coming and it was side by side at 100mph, think it would of eventually went past the SLK.

Rolling start from 40 the CaymanS pulled in front about 1 car length and it stayed that way till about 110mph where we both stopped!

Conclusion is the SLK has better acceleration due to the torque but at high speed the CaymanS is the faster car!

Time to give the SLK55 a remap I think.

Has the Cayman replaced the C350?

One thing I forgot to mention is the interior quality on the Porsche is incredible, a lot nicer than the SLK55, imo.

Having said that the SLK55 is 2007 and the Porsche is 2013/14 so maybe it will be more suitable comparing it to the R172.

All the new Porsche's have great Interiors. I briefly looked at a newish Cayenne before I got my RRS. I have to admit the interior did look great, the best thing about the car actually.

Just couldn't justify the extra premium of the Cayenne over the RRS.
