Why would anyone sell a car that would easily fetch four figures for a monkey?

Apparently it had been sat on a driveway for nearly 2 years, so he knocked at the door and offered £500 which they took. It did need a bit of fettling to get it on the road but that was just a service and a battery AFAIK.
