Hi guys and gals.

I have a 2003 C180K that has done 82K with a FMBSH.

When starting from cold there is quite a smell, mixture of regular exhaust and a bit of petrol a nasty colleague of mine also said he notice blue smoke when I revved from cold:eek: Though I can't be sure as he is a jealous git and it is totally clear when driving.

My question is can this be down to unburnt particles/water left in the exhaust system? or perhaps something more sinister:o. Coolant is perfectly clear, no sludge on oil filler, not burning any oil etc... Was only 'A' serviced 3K ago.

One more thing, my car engine sounds really rumbly and diesel'y when cold is this normal on the 180K?

Any help advice guys would be much appreciated. Oh and here's a piccy while i'm on;) ..........yes I gave it the clear upgrade.

Do you by any chance get a rotten egg smell? If you do then I would suspect the cat.

No it's not a cat smell its an exhaust fume/petrol smell. I may be over concerned about nothing and it does have a high mileage, albeit meticulously maintained.

Just re read your original post. Hmm so rumblie......Try some injector cleaner (Wynns is pretty good), cleans out the injectors and distribution head.

If the car is under warranty which it shouold be, try asking Mercedes themselves because its a problem you SOULDNT be getting not frm a car of that age deffinatly not.
