Hi All.

I have a W202 C220 CDi Sport.

When in slow moving traffic/stand still traffic, I occasionally notice excess smoke appearing from the front end of the car. This issue only seems to appear in the winter months as ive never noticed it in the summer. The smoke seems to be quite bad at times. Occasionally, other drivers are looking curiously towards me, and pointing at the front of the car.

Upon further inspection, the smoke seems to be coming from the under the from bumper/driver side wheel arch.

There is no effect on performance.

Any ideas ?

Many Thanks in advance.
Sean

On my C220 CDi (202) the diesel powered auxilliary heater can be switched off by pushing the rocker switch forward until the red light comes on. It is located to the right hand rear of the gear shift. If left on, the heater comes on when the water temp is <70 C and the air temp is <7 C. It is meant to bring quicker heat to the passenger compartment, and pre-heat the diesel fuel line. I test mine once per winter, it works , but not very effectively.
