Smoking issue with clk320 cdi

Hi guys.

The car in question had an issue with the inlet shut off motor, so i removed the flaps, and put in a resistor, i used all new gaskets and everything was bolted back tightly, since the mod my car smoking quite badly, however if i switch it off once its warmed up the smoke goes.

The coolant level does drop slightly and smoke is white, but it smells quite strong, and some smell seems like its coming into the car from the vents.

Any ideas?
 
Ok guys an update for this, drove the car for about 5miles and its lost around 3/4 litre of coolant, but did not smoke at all. There are no obvious leaks anywhere and there is no loss of performance.
 
Looks like the rear seals not sealing correctly, there's a water galley over the back for the EGR cooler (IIRC)

Hi thanks for that mate, is there any diagram or image to show me where this is

Edit just seen the image, that is different to my car, mine is a w209 clk320 cdi v6 with om642 engine

Same thing really on the V6 manifold ensure the water ways are sealed with a new gaskets and sealant.

Should come with the inlet manifold gasket kit iirc they are "all in one one" each side.

Yhh all the gaskets have been changed to new ones
 
Right guys this is really annoying now, driven the car for the past two days no smoke at all, however ive notice the coolant drops when the engine is hot.

I tested this today, put coolant in to max level, started the car and left it to idle, when it reached optimum temp, the coolant dropped about half a litre.

Any ideas whats going on with this unlucky car?
 
Has it completely bled yet, it seems like if it was leaking it would leak everything out.
