SMS Text Message Display or Read / Comand Version or Add On ?

Hi

Anyone know what version of COMAND is required on W211/W212 to display or read an SMS text message?
I've got NTG2.5 in the W211 and NTG4 in the W212.

Was driving the other night and missed a message and was thinking this would be a good add on?

AFAIK NTG2.5 requires the separate Convenience Telephony option in order to receive and read-out text messages. This is a separate option, with itd own standalone hardware, not a COMAND add-on. Without this option, text messages are neither displayed not read-out.

My NTG4.5 displays text messages but can not read them. I am not aware that there's an option for reading-out text message on NTG4.5. I suspect the same applies to your NTG4?

My NTG4 doesn't display a message at all.

On my CLK you get text messages on the Comand screen if you have a handset (rather than a bluetooth adapter) plugged in.

This is probably becauae the handset connects to the Convenience Telephony module when plugged-in.

Just been out to check the W212 again to see if there are any options in the phone menu.

None at all for sms or messaging.

So does that mean the only way to get sms messages displaying is to upgrade comand?

My 2014 e class has what I think is ntg 4.5 and that will display and read text messsages from my phone which is connected via Bluetooth.
Edited because having looked at the Wikipedia descriptions of ntg it looks like I have ntg 4.7.

My 2014 c class W204 Coupe has ntg 4.5 & it displays or reads text messages aloud through my Bluetooth connected iPhone 6.

Our 2012 ML reads out and displays the tx messages from our iphones. I think its NTG 4 but not sure. It doesn't do it automatically, the envelope symbol comes up on the screen, and you have to use the centre dial to select it. It then reads it out and sipalys it on the comand screen.

I've been reading a bit and seen an option for the Mercedes Bluetooth SAP adapter but I'd need the UHI cradle which I don't have.

I have a 2011 W212 with NTG 4.5 and it displays and reads SMS messages fine. I’m using an iPhone 5s
