So, I viewed a W124 E500 today...

Think it might take 10+ years until they really start becoming cult status. They have not really hit the spot like the 300SEL 6.3 / 450SEL 6.9 but no doubt getting there.

Good examples advertise for $$$ but never seem to achieve it. Charles Ironside recently sold L55 ACE (Silver E500) for £9500. It was pretty much mint with 140k on the clock.

The W124 E60 AMG is another story, that is a rare beast with only 12 original cars built.

I'd buy Jay's one and leave it well alone or go high and buy a mint example. No point being in the middle. IMHO spending money on a respray would miss the point of that car

Agree completely, Bonfire works well on the 124, even more so on a 500 ;)

.

Specialist are always overpriced but eventually come down to earth when it sits on the forecourt too long of course. £9500 is about right given the mileage. So, £10k-£12k (max) for this 1995 80kmiles you posted is achievable, and it is what I would pay!

The £8k you mentioned needs work (harness + SRS issue) closed to £1.5k and pre facelift, so you're approaching what most dealers/sellers achieve, which is circa £10k .

Looks like he has sold it, so I hope it went to a good home, as you say, doing more to it would be missing the point!

Agreed lads but as already said bornite just isn't for me. A 500e looks best in black and yes respray it would kill the oem of that car, the paintwork looks mint already.

Search continues, if anyone knows of one for sale let me know :)
