Hey all,

Just wanted to know what u guys thought of this item that i spotted on Ebay as i'm contemplating buying it for my car...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/94-00-Mercede...ageNameZWD9VQQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p1638.m125

Just wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with these after-market ones or if there is an original available from the dealer within the same vicinity of price as this one.

Many thanks, and Merry christmas!

Adam

Be prepared for them being LHD and your car failing its mot...

C220 Deisel Type-R - bring it on... :devil:

Surely you don't want your merc to look like a lexus with a honda type-r badge... do you? :crazy:

To be honest I would avoid because these are never up to scratch when its comes to build quality compared to the original units. The do tend to leak over time and then steam up. Another issue which has alread been mentioned is that they can fail a MOT if there for left hand drive models due to the incorrect beam.

As an OEM alternative there are OEM Xenon units available but come at a high cost. Someone on this forum has done this mod a while back.

I dont know much as i said... but i'm just saying the ones i spotted on ebay look kinda nice... i might be wrong but they do remind me of the new w204 C-class headlight housing... kinda

The ones that the guy bought from bosch look as if they are glazed... and they cost something like £600 per headlamp? thats pure insanity...

I'm going back to dubai soon, and seeing as i know now that my lights are H1 config. i can purchase the HID's from there again, and fit them on surely? or would i need to change the housing u think??

many thanks

Koolvin added a aftermarket HID kit to his C180 W202 and IIRC he didnt change the housing but wether he modified them im not sure. I see his car a fair bit these days and they look like the original housings to me.

Yea he still has the full C43 AMG kit all round and the matching C43 AMG back box to finesh it of nicely.

He has a full amg kit with backbox and hid lights on a c180? he got any pics?

Thats only a handfull of the long list of mods he did to his W202. Unfortunatly he no longer visits the forum on a regular basis but if you do a search some of his mod pics should be available.

Yup thats the one. One very finely modded W202 indeed. That site has not been updated as IIRC he did manage to complete his mod wishlist too:

:: remove wing repeaters - Done
:: replace C36 for C43 back box - Done
:: Cruise Control - maybee - Unsure
:: Folding mirrors - Done
:: Xenon - Done
:: Auto dimming RVM - Unsure
