Spare Key....

Now that I'm using the car every day and depending on it, I was worried about losing my only key. I almost fell off my chair when the dealer quoted me for a replacement!

A Google search was quite helpful, Mercedes Keys - Home - ReplacementMercedesKeys turned up and an hour later I had a new shiny chrome 3-button key for significantly less than the stealer charged. He's a thoroughly nice chap too, and can chat for England

Anyway, I can sleep easier now.

Yup, last Merc key I bought was £180 and that was only 3 years or so ago!

Was £180 in March of this year also and There's a guy in Derby does them for £120 the only problem with letting someone other than MB provide the new key is the person that does it has all your car details so you may not be the only one he makes a key for there was a spate of steal to order done this way

He's not exactly the hardest chap to identify though, and I'm sure we would have heard of a spat of similar thefts by now

How do you get a key for a 211 from a dealer for that price? I tried Stratford and Milton Keynes and they both quoted within £10 of each other.

Maybe its a North South thing in March MB Sheffield and MB Doncaster quoted £180

There were a spate of stolen MB about 2 years ago that were stolen with the keys even though the owner had both sets of keys in their possesion.

I'd have driven up to Sheffield for that price Well, maybe not...

Was it discovered that these owners had used the services of an unofficial Key Replacement service? Is there a link to this article?

just spoke to mb Coventry £195 for the 3 button flip out key for the R129....

a bit more than the £80 i paid many moons ago for a single button flip for the w202......

Has anyone uses the repair service on fleabay at £35? one of my keys has stopped locking the doors but still works in the ignition so I'm thinking a repair service would be more economical than replacment
