Be careful with the blank blades of ebay mine doesn't fit correctly, sits slightly raised not a major problem but annoying. im trying to track down a genuine merc blank but no luck so far might just have to fork out £32 and get one from stealers pre cut.

Merc must have jacked up the prices!

When I had my W203 it was £160 for a new silver bling key with the blade etc.

I didn't even know it was going to be so blinged up when I ordered it!

@ riz k thanks for info, is it possible for you to post pics of your key so i have a idea of how the key comes out and is located in the fob? is it not a flip out key does it just slide out, also is the end strong enough to turn in the ignition as it is bare metal is there nothing on the end while in fob to make it easier to start?

hello guys just had my key converted from the boring black plastic one to a nice new shiny chrome one and i couldn't be happier, i got the key of this forum from billy whiz for the bargain price of £15 the key was nearly new having only been used a couple of times. I then sent the key off to mark (dog68) who transferred my chip from my spare key into the chrome one the result a working chrome key this only cost me £25 inc return postage via rmsd. all in all it's cost me £40 i just need to get a blank blade and get it cut which should cost no more than £10.

if anyone is thinking of having the chrome key upgrade done i can't recommend mark (dog68) enough, his job is top notch and his turnaround time is lightning fast i posted the keys on thursday and mark received them on friday and he set to work on the keys right away they were posted back the same day. mark had paid extra from his own pocket for saturday delivery but royal mail did not deliver or the keys would have been back with me on saturday.

A big thanks to billy whiz for supplying the key and mark for completing the chip swap

I can also repair Keys, buttons not working etc, only for Mbclub.co.uk members.

1998 SLK 230K replacement key shebang!

Am a brand new owner of a 98 SLK 230K and no surprise the keyfob is in rank condition!

It all works though the key ring attachment has broken and someone has drilled a whole through the case and fitted a thin metal loop.

I would love a new chrome fob but £227+vat will take some saving up for.

If anyone can help me achieve this for under £50 please get in touch.

Hi Mark I just saw the link you posted to the correct key. Thanks for that. So when I get the bling key I just need to send you both keys excluding blades?
