Spare parts costs

Can anyone tell me if the UK dealerships are suposed to sell spare parts at the same price. When I phone up a number of dealers to get a price for a part they all quoted wildly different prices.

Can anyone recomend the cheapest place to buy official MB spares from.

Not too sure about different prices as I've only ever used the one dealer but I ordered some door seals and was quoted a price. I was then offered a 20% discount if I was prepared to wait a couple of days for delivery.

I suspect from this, but can't confirm, that all prices quoted include next day delivery as most dealers stock only basic service items. It may be worth asking.

It is vastly illegal to do that under various chunks UK & EU anti-price fixing legislation! There is obviously a point of reference, being what MB sell or source the kit for and a "suggested" mark up, but beyond that Stealerships can (and will) charge what the market will bear.

Unless you give them a chassis number or a part number to work with you can't always be certain that you're getting a price for the same part

They do have different prices across the dealers. Some will admit they markup on top of rrp's and some dont. e.g. Monarchs in tamworth dont
