Hi All

I have just bought a 2003 W211 E55 AMG (pick it up next week) and I have noticed when I went back to garage to look at handsfree kit that their was no spare. Since I will be travelling mega miles in it, I want a spare tyre rather the stupid foam crap thats in my SLK32

I have located a space saver wheel and tyre for an E55.
The questions I want to ask are do I need the wheel nuts for this space saver or can I use the ones on the wheels. Do I need a new spare wheel liner in the boot and I have heard that I need to move the battery to fi in the spare wheel, has anybody done this, how much hassle is it and how much does it cost.

Thanks

Yes you will need new bolts for the space saver wheel. MB dealer can advise and supply the correct ones. (You're only going to need 5)
I've not looked in the wheel well of my E55 to see if there are holding down points elsewhere within the well for the battery to be moved to. I don't think it's possible as the battery is too big.
Alternatively, just push the spare to the rear of the boot up to the seat backs. It's a deep boot.

Hi
Ive heard its possible to move the battery, but hassle
Ive bought a genuine E55 AMG space saver tyre for 50 quid.
I have noticed that you have a x-pipe fitted, can you tell me more
Also what else should I worry about, should get the valeo radiator changed

The x- pipe was fitted after removing the secondary cats and resonator. Gives the car a nice V8 rumble and a lovely growl on acceleration. Well worth doing IMO.
There are a few threads about 55K engines and the exhaust mods done to them. I have posted enough about mine:o

Moving the battery is the easy bit, its securing it so it doesn't move about. It weighs about 10kgs to me!

If you have a valeo radiator, I think it would have leaked glycol by now.Check with an Indy for his opinion on changing it.
Where is your location?

Thanks for the reply

Too far away for me to recommend Indy's in your area, but many many people travel further to MSL Birmingham. Same place as Torque flow exhausts.

All the advice you will ever need about your E55 from MSL, and they have a huge stock of spares inc second hand stuff.
