I've just got back from the Magistrates court I got done for speeding, totally my fault no excuse. Ended up with 6 points and a fine. Just contacted the insurance to inform them and they aren't putting up my premium :bannana: sometimes insurance company's aren't too bad.

yeh your probably right they will want there pound of flesh.

As above, wait until you renew.

You will be hit with it somewhere along the lines.. 3 is generally ok, 6 not so

Don't feel too smug just yet. Use your cruise also... 6 more and the games almost over :(

I do the same but i got caught on a road i drive every day on the way to work, A dual carriage way. They put a temp speed limit on which i forgot about felt such a pratt when I got caught. Should have paid more attention. As I said totally my fault.

I must say it is refreshing to read a post where someone takes responsibility for their own actions where speeding is concerned. Hats off to you Beno and hope it doesn't bite you too hard at renewal.

i agree, but its not like some one else was using the pedals...or was there?

How fast over the limit and how much was the fine?

I think there should be a law where insurers are not allowed to ask about speeding convictions.

Lets face it everyone does it one time or another,
its a lottery whether you get caught, my Mum got caught sneaking over the limit and she is the most cautious and sensible driver I know (boringly so),
those with 6 or more points will actually be driving far more carefully so as not to get banned,
you already have to pay for it through the fines,
Its just an excuse to whack up the price.

Hi There

6 Points for speeding , did you get court twice, 6 points for speeding seems a lot.

Avoid that road now mate.

cheers kj

Chances are if you've been caught, once or more, you speed more regularly than someone who doesn't.

You make your choices, you pay your prices....

I love speeding, I think its amazing fun and not dangerous where considtions allow, but its a costly thing if you get caught, and if you speed a lot, you will get caught (I should know, 2FPN's,3points and one speed awereness course all earned in six fast and furious months).....

This works in reverse also, when my 3 (and only) points went off last year it had no positive effect on my renewal

Im sure thats what the insurance companies would say but I dont agree, I maintain it is pot luck.

I maintain it is pot luck.

How can it be pot luck, does you car not have a speedo?

As Andy_K would say...It's a stupidity tax.

There is a big number at the side of the road and a dial in front of the driver. All you have to do is match the numbers.

Hmm... not really.

If you get done, your premium will almost certainly rise at renewal.

If the points come off, watch that insurance quote maintain the same level or still go up at renewal...

What he means is - if you speed a lot, then it is pot luck whether there are cops with hairdryers standing at the side of the road or not.

Is that how you do it?

Do you never speed? I certainly dont make a habit of it but I do occasionally, for example, I overtook someone driving 50mph on a 60mph road, I got to 70mph and was able to make it quick and safely. If I did it at 60mph it would have prolonged the amount of time I was on the opposite side of the road.

If there was a speed radar pointing at me at that moment or not would have been pot luck.

I rely on pot luck probably too much these days... :D

I am willing to pay the stupidity tax...

The same stupidity tax applies to smoking, alcohol, drugs etc. so I don't have to pay those at least.

...and anyway, there are no numbers on a national speed limit sign.
