Speedo swop.

Hi lads just had this Mercedes given to me on my Birthday for free. It wants a few jobs doing to bring it back to it best .It is a one owner W124 C class 2.6 1989 .Shame realy its been used but not abused ,like not been kept nice and clean. Gutters were thick with crud had trouble removing it .Well i could do with a little information ,the speedo is faulty and i want to swop it out for another .Can anyone tell me if other speedos will fit .This one as the economy guage in bottom lefthand side. I know you can repair them but i have i had no luck finding the gear wheels .Thank you for looking.

There's loads of differences with complete instrument clusters... max indicated speed, gear change markers and possibly gearing on the speedo head itself unless the later is done with the cable or at the gearbox end. Tachos vary with different redlines and presumably the number of cylinders makes a difference too.

The speedo can seperated from the rest of the cluster, i suspect a 260 is probably the same as a 300 but may well be wrong however a merc breaker like Rob at 3 pointed parts will probably be able to help if no one else confirms
