Hi

Just fitted sprintbooster to my car (15 mins install) after it had been sat in kitchen cuboard for last seven weeks. What can i say - absolutely phenomenol piece of kit. First time i have driven the car where the traction light kept coming on from standstill. Just got back from drive with it and have learnt to tame the gas peddle.

To those who have not invested in this piece of kit - it is a must have.

Cheers

Ossie.

 Thought you'd fitted it weeks ago!!!

Good aren't they!

Hi Jay. No i brought it in Watford several weeks ago but fought shy of fitting it due to my technical inability. However, this morning i found the box in the kitchen cupboard and decided to have a go after following the pic's in the thread - after 15 mins job done - don't know why i didn't do it before. Initial thoughts - fantastic - especially watching the traction light up on take off.

I really want to fit one of these to my car but i've tried search engines and everything, and apparently there's no SB for my model! 1998 C230K Manual.

If you've seen otherwise let us know!

Begs a question- why? The idea is not to get the traction control working, once that is on you are losing acceleration. i konow i haven't tried one and it's each to his or her own and if you want to car to react quicker to smaller inputs i gues it's fine and does do what it says i just can't understand why any one would want that, if i want to leave the line quicker i put my foot down faster and further, has exctly the same effect, as i think i am right in saying that the SB doesn't increase torque or peak power at all.

If you do a search for Sprintbooster you will find that its effect is a lot more than stamping on the throttle. It transforms the car through all gears not just from a standstill.

Doesn't increase power or torque at all no, but it does transform the way the car feels and responds. I fitted mine purely on the recomendation of others and it's been the best 'smiles per pound' mod I've done.
Try and find someone who has one fitted and ask for a test drive.
Once you've fitted one and get used to it - you'll never want to be without it.;)

Since I have had it on my car, it has now become a definate MUST for all future Mercs I own that have drive by wire :)

Wouldn't be without it on Edna either

'All the SB does its to amp your throttle, ie 1/4=1/2 throttle, 1/2 =3/4 throttle and there will be no difference after 3/4'

I guess this means that more fuel is added with less press on the pedal, which in the case of a common rail diesel means it is upping the rail pressure earlier than normal. Does it effect your mpg ?

Just trying to figure out what it's actually doing.

Never having used one, they sound intersting, so while searching for a dealer I found this...............

Probably all true but now I understand why I can overtake better....when my foot is giving it 70% the throttle is giving it 90%. OK its a signal amplifier but those who have one all love it!
