Sprintbooster - Does exactly what it say's it does

I doubt it's any slower than my 230CE ;) and i don't have any problems in that ...

Just wait for a bigger gap , if you are shooting out into too small a gap , you are going to cause an accident , by forcing someone to hoof on their brakes ..

I am not talking about driving like a middle manger in a BMW.

I am a very safe and cautious driver and regularly drive our 3 (very different cars) and to me there is a distinct problem with the car.

This is the problem.

Hows does zero mph to 10 mph in around 3 seconds sound?

Considering the car does 0-60 in around 10 seconds!!

We have 3 cars:

Merc C220 sports coupe (automatic diesel) 143bhp.
Great to drive apart from initial sluggishness off the line

Audi A4 1.9tdi (110bhp) - manual
Drives superbly, very brisk off the line (same 0-60 as more powerful Merc)

AC Cobra Replica (450bhp) - manual
Very fast indeed!

I'm not expecting high performance off the line from our Merc, but it should perform much better than it does I feel?

If you aren't exaggerating , and it really does take three seconds to 10 mph , there must be something wrong with it then ...

My old CE had the grand total of 132 horses under its bonnet when it was built in '92 .... i'd imagine a few of them have gone to pasture now , so say i've got 110 bhp ...

Still don't have any problems pulling onto roundabouts ...

I would look at getting whatever is wrong with it sorted rather than fitting a sprintbooster ...

I let my GF drive my car for the first time a couple of months ago and she discovered pretty early on that if you press the gas pedal to about halfway you'd better have intended to! :)

If I fitted a sprintbooster to our this to out C220 (diesel automatic - 143bhp) would that have the same effect?

The car is dangerous (in my opinion) when trying to pull onto busy roundabouts from standstill due to the slow off the line performance.

Hi, you'll have to excuse me if I'm wrong, but if you are a new owner of a Mercedes, you havent got the Auto gearbox in 'C' Comfort mode have you?

There has (and still can be) some confusion over if the S is for Sport mode, so people keep it in C (Comfort), thinking that is the normal mode. However S is Standard, and C actually just starts in 2nd gear (it is meant to be like a 'Limo' mode to give passengers a smooth ride). I only say this because I was a bit dissapointed with my pull-aways at first until I found this out? I keep it in Standard now and naturally it is much better of a standing start!

Reading what you describe, it does sound like this could be the answer??

:)

Awwww, thought I'd solved my first mechanical problem. :( LOL!

I'd agree with Howard, sounds like there's something else amiss. I take it there are no other symptoms of a problem, like strange noises?

No strange noises.

If i start the engine and leave it in neutral and floor the throttle it takes a while to respond.

If, however I rev it to 2,000 + rpm (in neutral) and then press the accelerator further, it responds instantly.

My gut feeling is it is because:

1. The turbo only comes into play at around 1800 rpm upwards.
2. Electronic throttle rather than a good old cable
3. ECU (having it chipped will make it more responsive)

I wouldn't spend anything on Sprintboosters/remaps until you get it checked out.
3 seconds to 10 MPH
