Hi all
I have a sprinter 416 with semi automatic gearbox.
Yesterday after using the vehicle all day, I filled with fuel and tried to start the engine.
On turning the key nothing happened, no click, no dimming of dashboard lights.
On selecting drive, the instrument panel showed the gears change from neutral to 1, so that bit seems to be working.
My initial thoughts were then, the starter motor had packed up.
I got it towed back to work, and it then turned over once and went back to no starting.
My local garage also thought it was the starter motor, but on investigation, they say this is fine.
The following day, the engine started just fine.
Is there a second gear selection switch on the gear box itself that might not be working. Obviously being an auto, if it still in gear, then the ignition key would do nothing when turned.
As I said the dashboard display shows that it has changed gear.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
