Any ideas how to stop the centre fan from squeaking?
It only squeaks on 1,2 or 3 setting but stops when I put it on number 4, all advice much appreciated.

You'll probably need to take the entire motor out and give it a good clean and lubricate.

I had the same issue on my W124CE. The job takes an hour or so.

PeachPartsWiki: Blower Motor Removal

I just took my blower out and gave it a damn good clean with WD40. Its been quit again for the last 18 months.
Thanks for the link, but I know if I attempted that I would come a cropper!!! Looks far too complicated for me, I struggle putting a shelf up!!

Have you checked if any leaves are traped in there? I picked up mine after a service at the dealer and it was whistling. Took it back in and just removed some leaves that fell when they changed the filter. Silent after that.

You never now.

Will have a look tomorrow, can you take the vent cover off from inside the car?

i had a similar experience, started with a ticking then into a squeak then a horrid screeching noise. I tried the clearing of the filters etc but it didnt work, i ended up changing the unit, the motor was 14 years old and can be exposed to moisture so decided to bin it and get a spankers one. i am keeping the car so i had no issues with that. if you can give the motor a good clean and get it working ok then save the cost, a genuine blower motor is around £200. make sure you know if you have pollen filters and there are two types available.

let us know how you get on.

good luck, Paul

Think I'll leave it for the time being, until it really starts to do my head in as it seems a bit complicated for me with my limited diy skills.
