As most of you know, I am a Goodyear F1 GSD3 convert, but despite having a new set sat in the garage, having recently purchased Peter's old alloys it only seemed sensible to keep and use the Uniroyal RainSport 1's that are currently fitted and also almost as new.

They are not a very popular tyre from what I can see, but correctly ZR rated and according to the reviews I have read not so bad. Compared to an F1, they are apparently quieter, not so good at dry braking but not by much, better still in the wet and worringly likely to wear out quicker - quicker than 10K miles? That's a challenge.

Anyway, having been for a quick spin the other day and read some encouraging reviews I told myself not to worry about adapting to a more leisurly pace due to the tyre difference.

So, on way home, half way around roundabout at normal rate of progress and I nearly lept out my skin  The loudest, American movie chase style tyre squeel you have ever heard!

I drove past my house to the next set of roundabouts, window dropped ready for the noise this time. Well before these break loose, the noise is awesome! I shall have to slow down though as this will draw too much attention, but great fun!

ASR off and moderate gas I can do a lovelly impression of a muscle car from a standing start :D

Maybe you replied to the wrong thread ;)

I hadn't intended for you to think you were on barryboys.couk, more a report of how I find the Uniroyals are absurdly loud under none too extreme corning load.

That's what happens when you drive a manual, i am not going to pay for your new clutch. Let's have a picture of your new AMG's with the shiny rims.

I put an updated pic in my gallery, but the pics don't do the shine justice...

What a relief. Would hate to think any member of this forum might be on the road towards a bad case of MSRA (Multiple Smoking Rubber Addiction) :D
