Right guys here is the story, SRS light is up due to the sensor in the passenger seat. After doing my research I have found it is extortionate to change it, therefore I have a solution that I need advice with or correction.

I have recently found a thread or post about using a plug and play box that makes the system believe the sensor is fine and removes the light from the dash, but also still gives full capability for the SRS system and doesn't in any way shape or form disable it.

Parts required:
Wiring harness, which I removed from my old sensor unit.
Resistor, 3.9 ohm 1/4 watt
soldering iron and solder

I am led to believe that soldering a resistor inline with the old wiring harness acts the same as these emulator boxes they sell on ebay for outrageous prices !

Only question I have is, do I not require any other electrical components other than a resistor, no diodes or anything ??

My progress so far:

many thanks

Parts are arriving today and ill do a DIY as nobody has given me any useful information

I'm almost 100% sure you won't succeed.... reason that what I've bee told those resistors work only for two-wire sensor system and you have 3 wires... it's a PWM based system

This is totally defeating the purpose of adding SRS faults to the MoT test... at this point it seems we were actually better-off beforehand, when car owners on a budget simply drove around with the SRS light on rather than soldering resistors into the circuitry... just my personal view.

Surely adding a resistor means that the airbag is always on, regardless of whether a passenger is in the seat or not?

So it saves money now, but you risk an expensive bill if you prang something?

In Finland any engine warning light has been MOT fail for long itme. Even certain stored faults in OBD read out (in 2001 onward gasoline vehicles, diesel are free of that for Gods sake) cause MOT fail...

Yes it consists of three wires the third is an earth !
As it's a abs plastic module that's not internally earthed.
