Has anybody got a Star unit and would be willing to do a check on my car (am willing to pay) as i believe i may have a MAF sensor on its way out. I have done some live data with a cheap scanner and sensors a and b are returning differant readings so i'm thinking one maybe out of tolerance. Just rang MB and they are quoting £509+vat now if this at fault then will make a claim on the warranty, but would like to have a pre check before i go back to mercedes

MAF sensors on this engine do not often go wrong.

What is the fault?

i will try my best to explain. if i gooing round the motorway at say 50-60mph top gear so doing approx 1500-1600rpm and you come to an incline the engine feels 'lumpy' so thinking you drop a gear still the same drop it another and still seems 'lumpy' its as iff when it engine is low rpm so trying to use the torque to keep to speed

You may have a misfire. I doubt a maf issue.

A check of "smooth engine running" on a Star is what is required.

havent looked but i beleive they were changed in December as i had a major service

yep just been confirmed changed December 2013

Check the fuel filter a genuine MB one ?

well looked at the air filters this morning and all look ok to me ??

have given them a brush to clear the wasps also

Really.....don't look great to me, I would change those...

these have only done approx 12,000miles and i thought they looked ok

when i pulled them off it appears on the LH side the lug that goes through the engine cover post was snapped off so now i'm thinking they wasnt changed but should of been mmmmmm

ones that were really black as the picture makes them look worse than they are I think, but people in the know have said change them so will get a price tomorrow from my local MB dealer but I expect they will be bought from MB Newcastle as they are a lot cheaper

well little bit of an update. Had the car put on STAR but didn't have any 'live' faults in it. He had a look and we found this so should i be looking at replacing the Lamda sensor and the temp sensor up stream of DPF?????
