steering wheel interchangability....(02-09)

hello,
i'v been looking at replacement steering wheels in advance for getting a cl (i dislike the wood trim, ok so get a later version and it'll come without the wood trim...well not always from what i'v seen on car sales websites)

i'v looked on ebay and they are listed as w215 CL or w2** S class etc
so i just thought i'd ask on here for a list of interchangeable wheels wether they be off SL/S/CL/CLS etc

p.s is it obvious im trying to increase my post count lol
(why it couldnt just be 50 replies in threads idk) oh well

Thanks in advance (maybe we could make a sticky of steering wheels and which models can be coded to use tiptronic flappy paddle wheels )

I also think that the CL ones are the same as the w220 S class.Also the CLS CLK AND SL share the same wheel,but not the same as the CL ones

does anybody know if the CLS/CLK etc can be swapped for a W220 S/w215 CL? would make a much bigger list of steering wheels we can swap (i quite like the bigger paddle's off the C63? amg-it's on jeremy clarksons thriller dvd) the silver paddles anyway... but with such as a CL wheel with the mouldings above the 3+9 o'clock positions

The wheel should fit but you`ll need the airbag for it to.The one I showed you the other day is my pic and that very same wheel is for sale

i still prefere the just leather wheels though d_w124 either that or i'm goin to try and find out if the '00 or '02 onwards CL's can have tiptronic paddles coded into the car for a "paddled" wheel
p.s if i cant find a wheel then i'll pm you regarding yours (obv depending if you still have it because the dark wood looks alot better than the lighter woods imo) what wheel did you swap it for btw?

...i'v just had a look on ebay and it looks as though they're the same fitment as W215's when viewed without the plate that the airbag is infront of (the pic in above post is without this "plate" )

Hi, good to see this because I'm the exact reverse of you. I'm looking for a late model 215 series CL and I specifically want a wood trim wheel (and gear shift) so ... if I get one without and you get one with, we can simply swap!

yes haha! thats amusing to hear but very useful, it just seems like all the CL's on "something"trader have the wooden insert wheels (unless '04 reg)

John:You might find it cheaper by asking breakers but don`t tell them is a sportline as i`ll sound rare lol.The early sport W202 had the same one as the ones fitted to sportline`s and E500`s.You`ll also need the airbag so here is both MERCEDES C250 LEATHER STEERING WHEEL on eBay (end time 25-Aug-10 16:41:33 BST) Mercedes Airbag C-E-S-Class W202 W210 Sport Black on eBay (end time 16-Aug-10 15:27:05 BST)

in response to quote though, i'v found a wood insert steering wheel with the tiptronic buttons even which are the rectangle type which can be swapped to the bigger silver paddles if my memory of another thread serves me right (ovals cant be swapped straight over)
