Hi guys brought a clk240 and I have the stepper motor problem. The air just seem to blow any direction it pleases. This is not a problem during summer I guess, but due to it being cold now the windscreen gets misted up. Is there a way to overcome this for the time being without taking the dash etc out for the time being?

Thanks

William

Not to my knowledge as the flap isn't moving so you would have to pull it apart to move it manually! Have a chat with an indie as he may know how to get to the faulty one and fix it for a reasonable fee!

PS good to hear you made a purchase - any pictures?

Yeah I know a indie one just through there maybe a way for the time being. Thank you went all the way to Rochdale to look at a saloon, but was not as described.. But down the road we spotted a clk240 for £2500, missus was talking to him about price and in the end he give up and let us have it for £2150 with the private plate. :) just got the sale picture at the moment. It's a 2003 clk advangrade with fsh and 98k. Only thing is it's making the ticking and also needing a cover for the side of the driver seat.

Is it the one in the picture ?

What private plate did it come with ?

I had the ticking flap problem last autumn on my (new to me) CLK320.
In my case the whole dash did have to come out as it was the charcoal filter flap actuator which had failed. However, the indy did say that that was the worst one to do. If it's not that one it may be accessible by other routes - good luck!
Sounds like the car was a bargain so may be worth investing some of the pennies you saved in getting it sorted.

Just out of interest, other than the clicking, did the failed charcoal actuator cause any temperature issues with the general heating system?

How much did the indy charge you?

I've just been quoted £1k to do both footwell actuators and the charcoal actuator! On the W203 C class it's an 8-10 hour job plus parts......!!

I'd try a few other indies as that's pretty close to Mercedes prices!

What would happen if you continue using the car while it has the problem? Sorry new to the Mercedes ownership

Nothing, just clicking ! May be worth checking this forum for a DIY fix as I know some of them are accessible without dash removal by a competent DIYer. There is also a flap reset process that is documented on here for when you do replace them (if you DIY)

Just that it's s pain and you never know where the fans are blowing
