Can anyone please help or explain the following:

The last week or so I have noticed that my speedo needle seems to stick at zero every so often and after a while resume working. It is only the speedo needle that is effected whilst the other dials function correctly.

Can anyone enlighten me?

John :D

Thanks for that. :D Is it a particuarly big job to do??

Like someone mentioned in a previous thread - dont want to get a speed ticket because of a lazy speedo

You mentioned cleaning it, is that just removing the see throu plastic dashboard cover and just wiping the needle and rest with alcohol or is it more in depth than that?

Thanks again

The way I did it was to remove the steering wheel (after disconnecting the battery due to the airbag) then removed the lower part of the dashboard on the drivers side so I could push the display out from behind.

When removing the steering wheel the bolt will be very tight and be careful of the airbag/horn wires as they are coiled up in a plastic housing but I managed to unclip that and had to rewind (and reassemble) that before reassembly.

Unplugged display & took it indoors.
The front of the display is held on with some plastic clips (8 if I remember correct). Then the entire front will come off the display and leave the Speedo and other clocks in the back part.

I then got some isopropyl alcohol on some cotton wool buds and cleaned the pin the needle rests against and also cleaned the needle itself. (where it touches the pin)

While it was all in bits I cleaned the other pins and needles while it was in bits.

Never had a problem with it since :D

If you need any help let me know and I will get the dash out for you. No need to remove steering wheel.

Love to know how you do that. There was no way cluster would come out without removing it on mine  .

Im sure I wrote up about it somewhere. Can't find it though.

Its basically a case of taking the panel off under the steering wheel. Getting your hand right up behind and pushing from the back. Think I remember taking the airvent out to make some space to move the pipe out the way. It is a case of bending your arms in somestrange ways but get the right angle and it just slides between the dash and the wheel.
