It really winds me up when people say the above in adverts - seems to be a favorite with old mercs - would you use a 15 year old bandage ??? Id much rather buy a 5 quid wilko special and put that in the advert !

I opened up my 14 year old (still sealed) first aid kit and it was absolutely mank - threw it straight in the bin

I know people like original touches but honestly

Ramble over

I've seen this, but usually on immaculate examples.
I guess it's for show rather than actual use. I believe original first aid kits also account for extra points in concourse events.

My car still has it's original kit container, but anything with a use-by date has been replaced :)

As above, it's an originality thing - but to be honest the majority of MBs always have their first aid kits in there, untouched.

It's been present in every single MB I've ever owned bar maybe one or two, tops.

A nice touch (Germans take safety quite seriously), but in reality is scarcely used.

Its a german regulation thing I think - my ford galaxy has a hole in the floor where i think there is probably a first aid kit in the german market but over here just a hole covered by cardboard which stops me using a isofix carseat - arrgh

the 1st aid kits degrade over time.... the stickyness on plasters etc dissapear.... best to replace contents (keep bag etc) with new ones, either from another 1st aid kit or just a box of plasters etc.

i think tesco has cheap 1st aid kits on offer at the moment.

you dont want to find out the stuff is useless when you have blood pouring from your hand etc!

I carry an up to date first aid kit, stuff originality.

I've never been in an accident where the onboard first aid kit would have been of use.

Lovely isn't it Dash. Widened, lowered and heavily warmed over. I'm embracing my inner chav.

Just noticed,is that yours?Honest Charles don`t get me wrong, but you`re the last person I`d expect driving that :D Love it though :thumb:

Back on topic, yes Brett so me people really make a big deal with it
Remember when I bought the red car,the guy kept telling me only the unopened kit would sell on ebay for 100

It would go slowly using a syringe :D

Stunning, Stunning, Stunning. Nothing Chav about it, more Proper South London Bad Boy Hard Nut if anything :)

Del - funny you mention that! In Bamako (where the rally officially ended), a few of the teams decided not to do the last stretch to Timbuktu...

As their cars were going to be auctioned off the day after, and fuel in the tank does not add to the value... we decided to syphon the tanks...

The easiest was the old volvo, which the pipe went in without any issues... (this is with a pvc hose, not the tourniquet... which I used in oxford when I ran out of fuel and had to find a way to get 5l of petrol from a spoutless can-thing to the tank)... The hardest was the brava, which because of the tank being so low and I'm guessing some kinks between the filler cap and the tank we couldn't syphon... at all!

That didn't stop us trying, and after a good few breaths of petrol-tank air, I can assure you I felt quite dizzy... not as high as I would have hoped though :p

The easiest way to empty a tank is to use the fuel pump.
If it's electric just disconnect the fuel pipe and turn on the ignition, if it's mechanical either use the return pipe or dribble fuel down the carburettor/throttle body and let the engine do the work.

You will empty a full tank in a few minutes.

Goot to know! I'll keep that in mind next time I need to "drain" someones tank :p
