Strange cooling fan prob

My magnetic fan has developed a strange problem. Doesnt seem to cut in till the temp guage is up near the red!!!! The strange thing is, when i rev the car, the temp gauge flips up and down and the fan then cuts in???

Any help would be very muchly apreciated

I'd start by changing the thermo switch - they are prone to failure and not very expensive.

I would agree with spike, I had to change one on one of my old 190Es.

Cheap to buy and easy to fit (from memory, it was at the front of the head near the thermostat).

Thanks for that chaps the switch was under £10 from gsf and took less than 5 mins to fit. Fan now working fine
