strange noise from the rear of c220

It's not problematic (yet) and the best way I can describe it would be as follows: If you were to take a hollow metal cylindrical object, such as a saucepan with no handle, then lightly run a knife around it (like if you were to run a finger around the rim of a wine glass) then that's the noise I can hear if I drive with the window down (and when driving close to solid objects, thus reflecting the noise)

Complex explanation perhaps, but does anyone have an idea what it could be?

Probably something to do with rear brake pads,like squeal plate separated from pad.
 
Thanks martyz, is this something I can check for myself. Thinking about it, it does seem to stop when I apply the brakes
 
Yes, if you remove the rear wheel you should be able to see if anything is amiss, if you don't fancy doing that,I think I could just about trust Quick fit or the likes to sort it.From what you have said sounds more than likely to be a pad issue.
