Strange noises from behind instruments on dashboard

Hi guys
only when my cl has been parked up in the garage for a few days AND when its been very cold overnight does a load of strange whirring and buzzing noises come from behind the instrument binnacle on the dashboard when I start up. The noises stop after about 3-4 minutes and then all is quite. Never does it if it isnt very cold.
Any ideas guys as to whats creating the noises??? Is the car trying to tell me something. Would appreciate your steer before I give it up for a service next month. thanks

Only a guess, but my money is on the ventilation distribution flaps/motors inside the dash. Maybe they are getting a bit sticky in the cold?

Do you have Comand? There is a fan on that which operates without the iginition on.

yep Ive got command installed but the noise only occurs when I switch the ignition on or start the car. I did have a thought after my original post if there were vent motors that could create the noise. I assume they must be some form of constantly energised ( with ignition on ) stepper motors that struggle until they are warmed up. I'll draw this point out to the MB techies when it goes in for service at end of feb and post the outcome for everyone.
