I need to strip it so that I can eventally get it into the boot of my A3 to get it to the scrap metal dealers, as its taking up half of the garage.

I stripped and saved the useful bits and for future use then stalled with the torque converter but had another look this evening.

I worked out how to get the torque convereter off, you need to access the bolts, 9 in total through the starter motor mounting. After removing them its a case of working it side to side till it and the flywheel drop off.

I took off the harmonic balancer too, that needed a breaker bar to get the bolt off.

Tomorrow evening I'll get the sump off and the front plate and post a few more pictures.

Well that's it done, luckily the block is now a heavy one man lift.

This is what is under the engine back plate.

Next the sump came off, then the oil pump.

With the oil pump and chain out of the way the front plate came off.
