Strong petrol smell

I have a Mitsubishi spacestar 1.8 petrol and every time i start it cold or warm it smells of petrol, on full throttle it seems to bog down a touch & if cruising at say 60mph you can feel it hesitating(jerking) also if left idling for 10mins the engine light comes on! Could it be the MAF?
