Sudden loss of power

Driving home tonight I accelerated quite hard onto the southbound M23 (up the hill). All of a sudden there was a jolt and my 2010 E250 Diesel Sport lost all power? A warning text came up on the display but I was so busy trying to get over to the hard shoulder in rush hour I can't remember what it said.
ACU Failure or something.
I pulled over, turned the engine off, restarted and it was fine.
Can anyone help - it was very hairy losing all power in the fast lane in rush hour and having to veer across!

I had an issue with my E220 last week that lost power and put the ESP light on. Stopped and restarted and it went away but got it to the dealer. Turned out that it needed a new pedal assembly

That was it! It was the ESP light came on, and a warning on the speedo cluster area.
All power was lost.
Why would the pedal assembly cause that problem?
How much was a new pedal assembly??

It's all linked as the W212 seem to fly by wire so if it can't see the pedal position it will deactivate functions including ESP and even the stop start function !

I have no idea of cost as it was done under warranty

Thanks SJ, if it happens again I will take it into to get seen to.

Its better you get a STAR diagnostic check done by MB or MB specialist...a fault or code may have been recorded at the time of the problem. Maybe you can tackle it early, saving you from having similar problems...it may just be a one off but better to be safe. These new MB cars are filled with sensitive electronics
