Sun roof - not working

My E-CLASS has a Vermulen sun roof fitted from new, but has now developed a fault, when the button is pressed, the glass drops, but thats it!!! it won't slide or lift. the glass will return to closed position, with some assisatance.

Where should I start looking ????

thanks for interest - its w210 - yr 2000,

its hopefully a simple electical problem and not a motor? I wish to do simple checks and not have to remove head lining!

Try some lubrication first. Then try and move the motor manually. There is an allen or torx on the motor (remove dome lamp). This should give you some idea if the cables are stuck or not.

I suspect the cables need replacing.
