I'm pretty sure that I have read somewhere that if the sunroof is open and rain is detected on the windscreen then the car would automatically close the sunroof, does that only apply if the sunroof is fully open or should it also work if it's in the ventilation position?

It doesnt work in ventilation mode. Only seems to be when fully open

Yes, when it's open, it moves the roof to tilted ventilation mode to ensure that any dog in the car still has some fresh air.

Yes it is and sadly often in hot weather with no ventilation.
Yup, we have had to call the police to attend our car park numerous times to free dogs from locked cars.
Absolute madness, what do owners think? Well, clearly nothing! 🤬
 
Mine has operated to close when fully open during hot and sunny weather and parked up. 😎
