Hi,
Can anyone advise me,please?
A class diesel emits consistent trail of excessive black smoke while moving, only problem with car, nothing else.
If it shows up as a computer fault,is it repairable or would it need to be replaced? Thanks.

Do you have any lose in power? and is the black smoke only visible under hard acceleration?

Hi,
Performance is good on everything,no black smoke when accelerator not being operated

Well in my experience with diesels (limited that it maybe) black smoke signifies oil is getting into the exhaust or turbo system and is burning.

I've had black smoke on 2 previous diesels. One was an hole in the intercooler and the other was the turbo.

I'm sure someone will be able to help further.

Could be the combined MAF/ECU UNIT- expensive to replace but the MAF section can be repaired more cheaply. A Class

However it may be the turbo oil seals have gone as suggested.

had very similar on the same model a month or so ago, it was a split pipe to the map sensor. mercy me, check for a narrow rubber pipe going to the intake manifold, it connects to a small sensor just below the screen at the drivers side.

Thanks for input.
I had the maf sensor replaced by Merc, they couldn't find anyelse wrong when taken back, however following traffic does pull back.
Apparently injectors are fine, hence my original Q about computer being faulty, a suggestion by merc, ho hum, I could see the £ signs in his eyes.
