Synthetic Myths

What oil man says is the truth, i have had oil training from Castrol and they taught we all about the myths. Semi synthetic is the best compromise. I dont use mineral oil anymore.
 
Oilman is right. Go onto any Saab forum and you'll see what synthetic oil is all about, lifeblood of a Saab 9-5

(My other car is a Saab 9-5) :)

Interesting POV. But the article's about running-in, an engineering problem that hasn't changed since the ICE was invented. ;)

But the engines have changed, in particular the honing of hte cylinders is now much more even and of finer grade. This causes less heat and doesn't wear as much.

It's just a matter of degree: the problem hasn't gone away, we make much greater demands upon our engines now than we did in bygone days. Isn't that borne out by the fact it is still a live issue? :confused:
