I've just logged into a Yahoo account I haven't accessed for nearly 6 months and it's still there, which I was surprised about. Had that 1 over 7 yrs.

Some of you must have been beta testers .

Microsoft bought them in December 1997.

It didnt become part of MS until the end of 1997 (as stated in the posts above)

TBH the exact date I signed up is irrelevant. The key bit was that I could get my own name rather than some variant.
