DOES THIS WORK WITH ALL or just certain newer mercs mines a 99 300td eclass , any advice welcome..

It works with the electronically controlled five-speeders 722.

i can confirm it works perfectly! i just posted something about a performance problem and was advised to do the reset. Its worked great and the difference is very evident.

Could you let the less knowledgable among us how to do it?

Thanks.

Yes I did as the link suggests. By the way you have to press all the way to the floor.

I spoke to a specialist about this and he also confirmed this would be the first thing he would have suggested for my problem.

crash406 my father has the exact same vehicle and was complaining about it being sluggish.......i tried the mod for him and he now thinks its a different car.........well worth doing

this is a strange thread for many reasons, some people are claiming a difference on a non electric box

With the 722.6 box there is no memory as such, if you get a fault and you want to do a fault code read out,the car must be driven to the workshop without turning the engine off. If you turn the engine off all is lost, and yes I do know that there are fault codes stored, but they are other standard codes.

Placebo effect ...

I've never felt the need to 'reset' the gearbox on my SL, very happy with the drive!

The title of this thread is the main cause of confusion.................

This proceedure has also been called a Throttle Body Reset......this is a more appropriate name as it is the relationship between the Throttle Position Sensor and the Throttle Body that is being reset...........

Slow driving makes this relationship more non linear......the reset helps to put it back to linear for a while.......unfortunately a bit of slow driving in heavy traffic quickly changes this adaptation........

MBs with a Manual box and 'drive by wire' will also benefit from this reset.........but not as noticable as an Auto with its close association of gear changes to Throttle Position

If you have the 'elastic band' lag..........then you will almost certainly notice a significant difference with this reset.......

Throttle Body Reset

1. Turn key to position 2......ignition on...before start
2. Accelerator Pedal/Throttle........press all the way down to the floor
3. Hold for 5 seconds
4. Turn key to off position
5. Release Pedal
6. Wait for 2 minutes

Cheers
