The End is Ngh

I think he may be wrong. I just don't see the future of F1 being electric. I watched one race that took place in London and it was dull as ditchwater.
It's a dying spectator sport as it is, and watching near silent (slower)cars isn't the future.
IMHO of course.

Know where you are coming from...I guess we are conditioned to associate speed with exhaust notes, screaming engine sound.

I may be biased, but I am liking the electric motors whining sound when it accelerate hard, similar to that of the jumbo jet spooling up its engine when taking off.

Don't get me wrong I still love the V8 burble! But the next generation may not be...

When I can put in 600 miles of range in a few minutes like I can now, perhaps I'll consider one.

Not yet, but battery tech are improving all the time and fast, the latest Tesla 90kw battery pack weigh the same as the 85KW, purely due to improved chemistry.

Besides I am not sure anyone wanted to drive 600 miles non stop without a pee break? :D

Most owners would probably want to spend half hour or so to stretch their legs, a restroom break and have something to eat after a couple of hundred miles drive?

And those half hour break would be enough to top up the Tesla to at least 80% charge.

Nah - the end isn't nigh in my opinion.
Electric cars run along a similar vein as quartz watches. Yeah, everyone likes the accuracy but there's still a strong market for good quality mechanical watches.
A premium brand like MB should prosper. Afterall, Rolex, IWC, Panerai all continue to do well in the current market.

Strange analogy, watches don't burn fuel, like it or not the future is electric,
Mercedes-Benz will make them too!

This is the road we are all being forced to use,Audi,BMW and Mercedes-Benz
are investing heavily in electric car technology and are currently working on
wireless charging for cars and phones.

and what do you think is one of the primary sources of electricity production. Yes - fuel, fossil fuel.

I was at MB world last month with the F1 team and during a walk around the museum with one of the race engineers, we got to this.

His comment " This is when we used to make racing cars with proper engines (last of the V10) instead of washing machines, because that's were F****** electric motors belong.

He is so correct the addition of the electic pack and regeneration totally changes the style of racing, you brake earlier and coast into corners to recharge, how can that be right, there's no noise you can hear the tyre squeal in the pit lane above the engine how can that be right.

I haven't watched an F1 race in 2 years and won't until they put real engines back in real cars, today's F1 one is a farce of its former self and figures like Senna and the other greats no longer with us must be turning in their graves.

Its time for Bernie to go and lets get back to proper racing, yes I get electric motors have a place in road cars as I've bought one and that technology must move on and advance to be less environmentally damaging. But racing is racing and when I see a hybrid in WRC I'll know its really time to hang up my gloves and pack it all in and I know at some point that day will come. :D

No,not for much longer, the government want nuclear power, and are
investing £10bn at Sellafield to kick off.

The article was about road cars...and how over 100 years of evolution of the ICE has been gazumped by electric in very short order in terms of performance.

The C63 and super cars may sound great etc etc...but the P85s beats the hands down in performance.

Yep 2.8 seconds is quick, its just a shame they don't have the brakes to match the performance. When you get to this league its the 0 - 60 - 0 times that matter. Power is nothing without control ;)

Agreed...they gotta stop. But how long before they do that?

Trumped on performance? Maybe.

The 0-60 time, beloved of hats-on-backwards yoofs can be quicker, but I bet my old diesel automatic would beat any of them on the run from London to Edinburgh I did last month :)

And back again.

Range is the problem...but refueling can be quicker than petrol/diesel...if they use a battery change station.
