Sorry to hear that mate but like you say no point being miserable. If your happy life is better. Your right money can't buy happiness but it sure beats being miserable and poor too.

Agreed, however, their numbers would be way down if they told the truth. By dressing it up as something else their performance will improve which equals good quality scores and more bonus.

I'm not defending the practice but passing on some insight into how it works and why it isn't the poor guy at the till to blame.

That of course is the problem- the poor till person has no say in what happens, same with call centres , tele marketing et al. My bank persistently asks for my email mobile etc -they can never come up with a good reason except " for their records". I did once make the mistake of giving a bank my mobile number and was then bombarded by marketing calls, one persistent character repeatedly asked to speak to my deceased wife. No longer give this info out.
